Lagos State Govt to Relocate Computer Village From Ikeja to Kantangowa

I am not sure if I should describe this as sad or good news, but the Lagos state government has made a decision to relocate the popular "Computer Village" ICT market from Ikeja to to ICT Park, Kantangowa in Agbado.

This decision was communicated to all involved parties (Sellers and Buyers) via a series of tweets by the Lagos state government Twitter handle.

LASG has decided to relocate Computer Village to ICT Park Katangowa in Agbado/OkeOdo LCDA

This is the second time an announcement like this is being made (it was made back in 3013 but not implemented) but this time around, it is actually going to happen as the Lagos state government is focused on building a better Lagos environment.

According to the Lagos state govt, the proposed relocation is aimed at controlling housing stock deficit, environmental degradation as well as traffic congestion in the Ikeja axis.

The relocation will curb environmental degradation, housing stock deficit and traffic congestion in the Ikeja axis

When the relocation process will take place is not known but it sure will be sooner rather than later judging by what is currently going on in the state in terms of demolitions.

The good news is that the new proposed site for "Computer Village" (Katangowa) is quite bigger than the Ikeja "Computer Village", with the site covering over 26 hectares of land. It is however left to be seen how buyers and sellers adjust to the change of scenery as well as distance.

Most Lagosians I have spoken to about this do not sound ecstatic about this, what do you think?
