Etisalat Officially Changes Name to 9Mobile, Unveils Brand Logo

The is the breaking of a new dawn for the troubled telecom. Some days back, we learnt that Etisalat was given 3 weeks to phase change the name  after her parent company backed out. And now, Etisalat has changed its name to 9Mobile NG.


This change of name was disclosed at an executive meeting held in Lagos, where the new name 9Mobile was adopted. All staff across the country are being duly notified, and the telecoms company has unveil the new brand (9Mobile NG) to the public.

"Etisalat is now 9Mobile, here for you, here for 9ja." Now that the new name has been officially confirmed, their social media handles are now been modified to 9Mobile NG. Also, the telcom now send notification SMS of airtime/data balance with the name 9mobile.


On Tuesday, Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd. (EMTS) trading as Etisalat Nigeria assured all Etisalat customers that a proposed change of brand name will not affect its operations.

Mr Boye Olusanya, the company’s new chief executive said:
"Our mandate is to make sure the business runs as profitably as it can. What is most important now is to ensure that the business runs and meets its obligations.”


He furthered stated that the telecom company is focused on getting the group back on track. So what do you have to say about 9mobile, etisalat's new brand name?
